  2. Hello, what language is this exactly: http://www.uei-shiang.com/Net/Buy/Default.aspx?SelProductID=1030788

I want to start learn reading the Chinese BL Novel, any advice/suggestions? I know Chinese has a lot of dialects.

    1. Uei-Shang is a Taiwanese publisher, so the books are written in traditional Chinese.

You should learn pinyin first. Pinyin helps you learn how to pronounce Chinese characters and you can look up characters with pinyin. I would then learn traditional Chinese. It's easier to learn simplified Chinese once you know traditional Chinese, instead of the other way around. There are a lot of great materials online for learning, such as youtube videos, etc. Good luck with learning! >u< b

    1. I don't think there are any translations past volume 3. If you're looking for the novels in the original Chinese language, you can easily find it on the internet.

    2. HI again :
Thank you for answering my question so fast ( regarding Feng Yu Jiu Tian novel ) .
unfortunately I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO READ CHINESE .
I love romance Chinese novels , I have read also Da Mo Yao & Gu Fang Bu Zi Shang .
Some times when you read novel you feel in love with the characters .
the novelist can show you the external , internal conflicts , agony , jealousy ,envy ,loyalty & most important how to love & be loved in return .

Thank you for your hard work .

    3. You're welcome.
I have yet to read the two that you've read, but I do plan on reading them one day.

And I do agree with what you've said. There is more depth when reading novels. I just wish I was better at languages to be able to translate without losing the author's distinct style and the feel that the original writing has. Right now I'm just focusing on building my vocab. But I hope I'll become a better translator as I continue to translate more. >//w//<

  6. Hi, may I know where you buy your chinese BLCDs and novels? Are they all from Uei-Shang? What currency does Uei-Shang charge in?? :))

    ReplyDelete

    1. Chinese BLCD's are all fan-made, so they're free. >u< b
      Links are posted here: http://chineseblcd.blogspot.com/p/links.html

There are other publishers besides Uei-Shiang that releases Chinese BL novels. You can use certain credit cards for payment on Uei-Shiang's site. Other sites that list BL novels (including novels published by Uei-Shiang) are books.com.tw and kingstone.com.tw, and they seem to accept paypal as well as credit card. For Simplified Chinese books, I've bought from dangdang.com using credit card. Yesasia is an English site that sells Chinese BL novels too.

  7. Can you please translate this for me? I'm reading this Chinese novel and I'm stuck on this paragraph, my friends tell me to ignore it but I really want to know what it's saying.
    兰陵王,貌柔心壮,音容兼美,为将躬勤细事,每得甘美,虽一瓜数果,必与将士共之。历史上也算是赫赫有名的美男子,可惜最后的结局却让人惋惜。

  9. Hi, thanks for your hard work. What I would like to ask might be a bit out of your scope of work. Well, I was wondering if you could write a short review for the bl novels whose links you have posted. So far I have finished Feng yu jiu tian and hua hua you long. I am in the middle of reading love late. But I am also curious with the war prisoner. I really can't decide whether to read it or not since I know it has a lot of chapters. If you have read it, could you please give me your opinion about it? Thank you... <3

    1. I haven't actually read bl novels translated by others yet. I've been reading untranslated stuff. X3 ;;; Although I've read some of the translations for "A Cruel Romance" by Ni Luo, which is very well-done in my opinion. The novel has an epic feel to it. As the title indicates, it's not a light-hearted story. The protagonist is a "cruel," loathsome man, but his story is told with so much rich details that it sucks you into his world.

I still have to read "War Prisoner." I've heard it's good. There's an audio drama adaptation for it that I'm tempted to listen to one day. >w<

I'll consider writing real reviews for the translated novels when I do get to reading them. ;)
